Delay analysis of a discrete-time multiclass slot-bound priority system

چکیده
This paper introduces a new priority mechanism in discretetime queueing systems that compromises between first-come-first-served (FCFS) and head-of-line (HoL) priority. In this scheduling discipline which we dubbed slot-bound priority customers of different priority classes entering the system during the same time-slot are served in order of their respective priority class. Customers entering during different slots are served on a FCFS basis. In this paper we study the delay in an N -class discretetime queueing system under slot-bound priority. General independent arrivals and class-specific general service time distributions are assumed. Expressions for the probability generating function of the delay of a random type-j customer are derived, from which the respective moments are easily obtained. The tail behaviour of these distributions is analyzed as well, and some numerical examples show the effect slot-bound priority can have on the performance measures.

MODELLING AND ANALYSIS OF A DISCRETE-TIME PRIORITY QUEUING COMPUTER NETWORK WITH PRIORITY JUMPS USING PROBABILITY GENERATING FUNCTIONS
Priority queues have a great importance in the study of computer communication networks in which different types of traffic require different quality of service standards. The discrete-time non-preemptive priority queuing model with priority jumps is proposed in this paper. On the basis of probability generating functions mean system contents and mean queuing delay characteristics are obtained....
متن کاملQueue Content Analysis in a 2-Class Discrete-Time Queueing System under the Slot-Bound Priority Service Rule
The paper we present here introduces a new priority mechanism in discrete-time queueing systems. It is a milder form of priority when compared to HoL priority, but it favors customers of one type over the other when compared to regular FCFS. It also provides an answer to the starvation problem that occurs in HoL priority systems. In this new priority mechanism, customers of different priority c...
متن کاملStochastic Decomposition in Discrete-time Queues with Generalized Vacations and Applications
For several specific queueing models with a vacation policy, the stationary system occupancy at the beginning of a random slot is distributed as the sum of two independent random variables. One of these variables is the stationary number of customers in an equivalent queueing system with no vacations. For models in continuous time with Poissonian arrivals, this result is well-known, and referre...
متن کاملT-S FUZZY MODEL-BASED MEMORY CONTROL FOR DISCRETE-TIME SYSTEM WITH RANDOM INPUT DELAY
A memory control for T-S fuzzy discrete-time systems with sto- chastic input delay is proposed in this paper. Dierent from the common assumptions on the time delay in the existing literatures, it is assumed in this paper that the delays vary randomly and satisfy some probabilistic dis- tribution. A new state space model of the discrete-time T-S fuzzy system is derived by introducing some stocha...
متن کاملOptimal discrete-time control of robot manipulators in repetitive tasks
Optimal discrete-time control of linear systems has been presented already. There are some difficulties to design an optimal discrete-time control of robot manipulator since the robot manipulator is highly nonlinear and uncertain. This paper presents a novel robust optimal discrete-time control of electrically driven robot manipulators for performing repetitive tasks. The robot performs repetit...
